I take it regularly myself if I want to get away from Nerja for a bit, for example, for a day trip to Málaga. It saves parking stress, and you get to see some of the surroundings along the way. The bus station in Nerja is easy to find, on Avenida Pescia. It's a bit outside the absolute center but still perfectly walkable. Lots of people wait outside in the shade for their bus, which isn't a luxury with this weather. Inside, there's a small ticket office and some machines where you can buy tickets.
To Málaga by bus
The bus to Málaga is one of the most popular routes, and for good reason. From Nerja, you'll be at the central bus station in Málaga city in about an hour and a quarter. The buses run every hour, so you've got quite a bit of flexibility. It's ideal if you, for instance, want to experience the hustle and bustle of Málaga or explore the city without worrying about parking, which can be a nightmare there.
The route itself is also worth it; you'll drive a good portion along the coastal road with views of the Mediterranean Sea. Sometimes you'll even spot some small, hidden beaches along the way that you'd never get to otherwise. A single journey will cost you about five to six euros, which is a really reasonable price for the distance and convenience.
